About me…

Hi, I am Nicola and I have always had a passion for producing young horses. I am based just off the M65 J3 on a small private yard. We are a quiet and relaxed yard with turnout all year round even for our temporary clients! No one gets left in!!

The majority of my experience, although varied, is predominantly from a dressage background with vast experience and successes in the following:

Stallion Gradings BEF

Foal Futurities (2 X Home bred)

Mare Gradings

Sport Pony Stallion Gradings (1 x home-produced)

Backing & Producing Sports Ponies

Backing & Producing Dressage Horses

Successfully Competed to Medium level BD

Drag Hunting

I attended college to study for a National Diploma in Equine Science and Business Management at Myerscough College. This is where I gained my BHS Stage 2 and PT certificates qualifying as a PTI.

Soon after I left I started riding and training with Sylvia Schorn Dressage trainer/rider, where my interest in dressage really grew. I rode for many people locally in multi-disciplines, mainly youngsters and producing.

Early 2008 I moved to Wales and worked alongside Carsten Sandrock at Woodlander Stud. Training producing and breaking some and the best warmblood stallions, mares, and foals in the world. I was lucky enough to work with Woodlander Farouche, the 3 x World Champion Dressage horse gaining vast and invaluable experience under Lynn Crowden’s watchful eye.

Following my time at Woodlander Stud I came up against them competitively at a Pony stallion grading with the SPSS - where they bred and produced Woodlander Wales to gain the highest grading of all time, and I came 3rd place to two of the most successful pony breeders in the country, it wasn’t too shabby an achievement!

Whilst still in Wales I took a break from Dressage and had a season at a point-to-point yard. Again learning the most invaluable lessons about training the whole horse not just its musculoskeletal system! Riding race horses/P2P horses is where you will find brain training at its best!

Returning to Lancashire takes me to where I am today, offering my services to help others produce well-rounded horses and ponies.

I believe you should produce a young horse and expose it to life safely in an educational way. As Marcus Ehning says, if the brain is not developed healthily how can we expect the animals to perform at their best off physical attributes alone? We cannot.
